The 4071 Miniature Omnidirectional Microphone features a presence boost of typically 5 dB at 4 to 6 kHz. This is critical for a chest-placed microphone because the frequency range of the consonants spoken is damped in this position, which results in poor intelligibility. The 4071 has a boost that maximizes speech intelligibility. This microphone will be able to handle sound pressure levels up to 144 dB before clipping occurs.

Core+ microphones have the same dynamic range, noise level, and distortion level as the original Core, while providing even more clarity across the entire dynamic range at any SPL.

MicroLock connectors add a locking mechanism and upgraded materials for a longer lifespan when compared to MicroDot, while still being fully backwards compatible with MicroDot connectors (although please note that the lock will not engage unless both components are MicroLock.) Excellent speech and vocal mics, DPA miniatures are de facto theatre standards. Musicians and engineers use them as live or studio microphones for close-miking acoustic string instruments like violin, guitar, bass, viola, and harp. On television, DPA's small condenser microphones are popular as lavalier lapel and tie clip mics.
